newbie question - getting started with FTP
newbie question - getting started with FTP
Hi - this is my first adventure with Wyse and I'm keen to try and understand some of the problems I am encountering.
I have a C10LE on a test environment in a workgroup, not a domain, and a laptop running an FTP server pointing at the wnos.ini
I don't have any way to set DHCP options as it's a small home/test network with limited functionality so I'm manually configuring the file server/path option to point at the FTP server I have. However whenever I put an IP address in I get an error that it can't connect to a host name that I don't recognise, I'm guessing something that has been saved locally previously. I do see a request come in to my FTP server but session is closed by peer instantly. When I enter a name into the file server option it tries to connect to the name, but being in a workgroup it can't resolve it.
So my questions are:
Is there a local host file that can be manipulated?
Is this the correct way to configure the FTP server if I don't have a DHCP server with options to set?
PS - I don't currently have the option for administrator mode
Thanks for reading.

When specifying the FTP server address manually you need to include the Wyse folder...for example 192.168.1.1\Wyse.
When using the DHCP option tags it will assume the Wyse folder, so you only need the IP address.
You do not need any name resolution. The DNS error in the event log is default. Ignore it.

Great thanks, major progress today for me today.
Next challenge - try and work out why my mobile devices using citrix receiver can connect to my vpx gateway but my Wyse C10L running the latest ThinOS can't :-s
