XPS 8930, BIOS updates, order?
XPS 8930
The update page for XPS 8930 BIOS 1.1.29 is stating that BIOS version 1.1.28 must be installed first.
Do you know the reason for this? I am currently at BIOS version 1.1.26.

I did the updates as indicated by Dell with the two BIOS versions on separate USB sticks.
The only hiccup occurred when I initially tried to go to the BIOS 1.1.29 update from a restart.
The BIOS file selection screen seemed to look funny. When I did a shutdown/powerup to get to
the BIOS update screen the 1.1.29 update worked fine.

BIOS 1.1.27 caused unbootable problem for some users and got pulled from website
BIOS 1.1.28 could not update within Windows or via Dell apps for some users but it would update fine via F12 with BIOS image on a FAT32 formatted USB drive.
BIOS 1.1.29 should resolve those issues.
If your PC is working well, you may want to reconsider if it worth taking a risk and update. If you choose to do it, use the USB drive method as it has been successful for many users in this discussion.

Regardless of how you do it, either inside Windows or outside, install BIOS 1.1.28 first. Then make sure everything is working correctly. And only then update to BIOS 1.1.29.
Always safer to do all BIOS updates via the F12 Flash Update option with a (non-bootable) USB stick...

@dsmillman Glad that worked out for you.
And now you know that Flash Updates won't work from a Restart in Windows. They only work when powering on after a full power off shutdown.
