BIOS update issue?

I have the XPS 8930 w/i7 processor and Optane Memory. I recently updated the BIOS as Dell Update flagged it as a priority. The original BIOS was 1.1.7 and it was showing the update as 1.1.8. Anyway, after completing the update, I checked Device Manager under Firmware and it showed the current version as 1.1.7. So, I decided to download the BIOS update standalone program and when I ran it, it asked if I wanted to replace version 1.1.8 with 1.1.8. Naturally, I canceled the install as it made no sense to me.

So, my question is, why does the Device Manager still show the firmware as 1.1.7 if it's been updated to 1.1.8? Thanks in advance.

The firmware version is not the same as the BIOS version. From a Command Prompt, type 'msinfo32' without the quotes then hit Enter. The results should display the BIOS Version/Date.

Did you reboot the PC a couple of times?

You could try clearing BIOS:

Reboot and immediately press F2 to open BIOS setup
Copy down all current BIOS settings to be safe
Power off, unplug
Press/hold power button for ~15 sec
Open case and remove motherboard battery (check Service Manual for details)
Press/hold power button for ~30 sec
Reinstall the battery (time for a fresh CR2032 3-volt coin cell battery?)
Close up and connect mouse, monitor and keyboard
Reboot

Does that solve the problem?
