Disable Dell update prompts

How can I turn these off? I've followed various instructions here and elsewhere to uninstall Dell Support Assist and Dell Update (whether they're the same thing, I can't tell anymore), but the PC still pops up an "updates available" window several times a day. It's jarring and interferes with my work.

I emphatically do not want these updates. I have to wonder if removing the programs above also removed access to a Notifications option. If that's the case, how to do I get them back so I can silence them. And I fully admit how comical that sounds.

At this point I'd be happy if I could just turn off the sound the message makes.

Grateful for any clues.

do a clean install without support assist

other programs like chrome and firefox and adobe acrobat also have update popups.

Malware can also do this.

Go into windows notifications and turn off ALL notifications EXCEPT the security settings for windows defender

Feature updates are no longer optional.

At the desktop, click Start>Run and type in: services.msc and click OK.

When services.msc opens, scroll down the list and if you still see anything related to SupportAssist or Dell Update, double-click the entry(s) and set the Startup type to Disabled. Don't change anything else in services.msc, but just reboot the PC.

If an individual app is bugging you, click Tools>Options on its toolbar and look for a setting to stop it from checking automatically for updates...

@mark99k It would help to know the model of the Dell desktop you have and also the operating system you are using. "Updates available' message can come from several sources including the operating system, applications you have installed, etc. not just from Dell Support Assist and Dell Update.
