Using the monitor's On-Screen Display menu have you set the Input Source to select the Mini DisplayPort input? Also, try resetting the monitor to its factory settings and running the built-in self-test diagnostics. See how to do this in the manual.
I am experiencing significant problems with my new Dell U2415 monitor. There are occasions when it will work & occasions when it will not work. Dell have agreed to send me a replacement (it was purchased only last month) but until that arrives I am stuck with the present one. I am using it as my primary screen and it is connected to the desktop by DP and mDP leads. My 2nd screen is an EdgeI0 is connected via a DVI. The desktop (XPS 9820) has a NVIDIA (R) GeForce (R) GTX 1060 with 6 GB GDDR5 card. Both monitors are connected to this card. If I leave the computer and it goes to sleep or if I put it to sleep then when I wake it up only the 2nd monitor comes on and it comes on as if it were a single monitor. Going into the display settings and to detect 2nd monitor simply returns that it cannot find one. Sometimes I can get the U2415 working again by taking its leads out and putting them back in but now it stubbornly refuses to start at all (there is power). I have tried starting the computer with the EdgeI0 switched off but that has no effect. Does anybody have any ideas?
Did you mean an XPS 8920? You didn't say what version of Windows you have...
Why are you connecting the U2415 monitor by mDP and DP? If the GTX video card only has DP, why don't you use a DP(video card)>DP(monitor) cable directly and leave out the mDP?
Do you see anything on this monitor at all when it's on, even if PC is off?
As long as one monitor is connected to the add-in video card, you can connect the second monitor to the onboard Intel Graphics DP port (use DP>DP directly) and that might help you rule out a failed vdeo card.
Can you test the U2415 on another PC using the same mDP>DP cable connection?
