Studio XPS 8100, HDMI port problem
Just bought new Samsung 27" LED monitor for our old Studio XPS 8100 i7-860 with the EVGA GTX 550. Plugged in new HDMI cable, can't get output to Samsung. Old monitor works fine with DVI cable. Is HDMI disabled? Solution? Sorry computer tech is not our first language, we are just users. Thanks.

I do not think that the added GTX 550 video card has an HDMI out port. If not, remove it/uninstall it from the Studio XPS 8100. Then connect the HDMI cable to the Studio XPS 8100 onboard upper HDMI out port.

You could purchase a DVI to HDMI adapter like this: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-HDMI-DVI-D-Adapter-2-Pack/dp/B06WVSLSP3/ref=sr_1_4?s=amazonbasics&srs=10112675011&ie=UTF8&qid=1533830718&sr=8-4&keywords=dvi
and connect the new monitor to the graphics card with a HDMI cable and adapter to the DVI port.
