XPS 7760 with intel i7-6700 processor
Can I upgrade XPS 7760 with Intel Core i7-6700 processor to a processor that will work with Windows 11? Which processors will work?

No, as the system cannot be upgraded to gen 8 CPUs. Now having said that you can still install Windows 11. Go the Windows 11 download page and download the media creation tool (2nd choice on the page) which can be found here. It will create a bootable installation flash drive. And installing that way bypasses the CPU check.
Now the only drawback is that since your system is not judged compatible to Windows 11 by Dell, should you ever require service Dell support will insist on you installing Windows 10 before they offer assistance.

JOcean, thanks for your answer. I have the same question can i ask why you said that.
Can't you just buy an 8th or 9th gen that is compatible with the 1151 socket setup and hot swap the CPU's? I checked and they seem like they would work on the same motherboard.

The socket may be the same but the chipset is not. The 8th gen and 9th gen requires a 300 series chipset whereas the 7th gen uses a 100/200 chipset. Also the 8th gen was never validated for the 7760, assuming you have the XPS 7760. This forum thread has more information.

JO is correct again.

If cpu is 6/7th gen, swap to 8/9th gen will definitely be no POST, even though there is no physical socket incompatibility. by the way, hot swap literally means remove and install cpu while motherboard is powered on, a definite no no.
Here is Intel official statement
Compatibility of Desktop 9th and 8th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors
9th and 8th Generation Intel® Core™ Desktop Processors use an LGA1151 socket. However, they require motherboards based on Intel® 300 Series Chipset. Some Intel® 300 Series Chipset based motherboards may need a BIOS update to support 9th Generation Intel® Core™ Desktop Processors. Please check with your motherboard manufacturer for details.
These processors aren't backward compatible with motherboards based on Intel® 200 Series Chipset and Intel® 100 Series Chipset.
Similarly, 7th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors and 6th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors aren't compatible with the Intel® 300 Series Chipset motherboards.
The Desktop Intel® Core™ processors 6th and 7th Generation support both DDR3 and DDR4 memory. The Desktop 9th and 8th Generation Intel® Core™ processors supports only DDR4 memory.
