It is possible you have a faulty memory module or memory slot. You could try running MemTest86.

You could also try testing each memory module separately by removing all the memory modules and testing each individually in slot #1 (DIMM1). To eliminate slot #1 as a problem you could test a single module in another slot.

Hi, finally managed to try this. All memory cards checked out ok but one of the clips holding the card in was loose and wasn't holding the card in correctly. Beyond me to fix the clip but pc is running quite happily with 3 cards, 10Gb instead of 12Gb so I'm happy with that. Thx

How many beeps do you get?

And if nothing else, re-seat the RAM modules in their slots...

Keep in mind that the error message might be referring to RAM on an add-in video card, assuming you have an add-in AMD or NVidia video card...

it sounds like pc is able to POST and enter Dell diagnostics since OP mentioned ran diagnostics on startup

when I ran Dell dx it is usually run by a bootable USB downloaded from Dell.

besides beeps, is the pc able to boot into OS?
