I was able to open the case on my desktop, remove the front and eject the disk with a paper clip. Thanks to those that responded.

doing a full power dead reset would have worked. even in bios the eject button real works.

next time use  imgburn and set the verify bit there,  and if it fails to reach verify phase, at the end, bingo failed hard.

  1. then the dvd-r is no good (disk)
  2. the drive bad
  3. the drive is not certified for double layers.
  4. or the drive has dusty optics inside, no age of drive stated.

but sure the paper clips works and is covered in the manual.
