XPS 8500, Incorrectly spelled "Bios Update"

Anyone else get this incorrectly spelled "Bios Update" pop-up?  It's directly from the DELL website.  Incorrect spelling typically throws up a red flag for me.  Trying to determine if this is a legit update or not.

"Warning: Please exits...."

Thx.

Instead of relying on a pop-up you could always go directly to Dell support and put in your Service Tag and download the latest BIOS update.

Thank you, but this pop-up appears after I download the A13.exe directly from Dell Support.  Has no one else noticed this?

It would help if you tell us what XPS system you have, then we could try the download. By the way, we can't see your picture, pictures do not work on this forum.

Thanks Vic.

It's an XPS8500.  Sorry about the pic not showing.  For a visual: it's a small rectangular box that says Update Bios across the top and a bar across the bottom that shows the percentage of download complete.  Above this bar is the phrase:

"Warning: Please exits all other applications before updating BIOS!"

I don't typically see spelling errors on legit downloads, just scams or corrupt files.

I downloaded the file (A13.EXE) in Chrome and got no pop-up when the download completed. McAfee checked the download and found it safe. The file is in my Downloads folder, but I did not try to run it because I don't have an XPS 8500. Perhaps the warning message is because your computer is automatically running the file when the download completes. What happens if you cancel out the BIOS update and run it again? Do you get the message again?

I get the message each time I cancel and re-download and try again. From what I hear this is a fairly crucial update. Dell Support was friendly, but helpless.

Chris,
Currently running A12. Do you see the popup while trying to install A13?

What BIOS are currently running?

You should not skip a BIOS update. Under the A13, I clicked "Older versions". I see =
A03, A05, A06, A09, A10, A11, A12

You should install them one at a time allowing the update to restart the XPS 8500. Do not force it to reboot. All external drives should be disconnected from the PC USB ports.

* If you are already running BIOS A12
* Open Internet Explorer
* Go here
* Download/save the file to the windows desktop
* Right click the file, click Run as administrator

I do not have the XPS 8500 to replicate this popup spelling error. If you are downloading the driver manually from my link, the file is valid. You can ignore the spelling and run it. Or wait and see if we release another BIOS.

* Open Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer 11 is depreciated on Windows-8 and Windows-10.
It's pretty un-secure, out-dated, and broken to today's web-standards.
Users should use Microsoft Edge (preferably with no Extensions).
Edge is the latest and currently supported Microsoft browser (and has been for a couple of years now).

On Windows-7, IE-11 might be OK for limited use (if Enhanced Protected Mode is enabled).
Since you can't run Edge on Windows-7 ... I think Google-Chrome is better. At least it's a currently supported product.

I'm posting in case some users "didn't get the memo" but also because you bold-ed it.

I said IE because the XPS 8500 only shipped from Dell with Windows 7/8/8.1. But your point is valid if they upgraded to Windows 10. Agree on Chrome.

I saw this misspelled update too. Is it legit?

Disregard that last comment. That was a really old discussion.
