XPS 8500, Intel H77 chipset driver update fails

Hello Community,

For a long time now, Dell Support Assist keeps prompting me to install the  Intel H77 Chipset Driver.  The current driver version that is attempting to install is 9.4.3.1008. In am on an XPS 8500 system running Window 10 Home. The install keeps failing with no error messages given, and each time I open Support Assist, the update is prompted again.

Can anyone help.

Thank you,

Ray B

I have seen some reports, on here, of failing updates with the Dell Support Assistant. But for the 8500 the problem is Dell does not (officially) support Windows 10 on this model, although it may work OK in Win 10.  There are only Win 7/8/8.1 drivers on the Dell downloads for this model.  The H77 chipset driver listed on the downloads has a Dec 2015 date.

Best suggestion I can give you is to uninstall the Dell Support Assistant and use updates provided with the Win 10 updates.

You can always go to the Intel download site and let their wizard scan your hardware for driver updates.

I have the same problem and I an on Windows 8.1, which is supported. I suspect that the problem is not related to Windows 10, but rather to Dell's lack of continued support for the XPS8500.

If by "same problem" you mean SupportAssist ... I suggest you just uninstall that nonsense and get on with your life.

If you are actually having an Intel Chipset driver problem let me know. However, you know ... if Windows-8 saw a problem with it, it would offer you an acceptable driver from Windows-Update.

If there's a question here, you need to tell us exactly which PC model this is and what the problem is.
