XPS 8500, error code 2000-0122 validation 83153

Hi There,

My XPS 8500 would not boot, only gave 4 short beeps, light was a blinking amber. I looked around the forum & read to run diagnostics by rebooting & rapidly hitting f12. I got error code 2000-0122 validation 83153. Msg: Memory errors detected. Limit exceeded. Additional errors will not be resolved. Slot: DIMM4. I checked the RAM cards, pulled out then replaced one by one. Now, hitting F12 won’t take me to diagnostics. What else can I do?

Thanks,

Chris C.

Edit your post and remove the service tag. That is forbidden on the forum.

For your problem, try a CMOS reset.  With the PC powered off, disconnect the AC power cord then press the power switch for 10 seconds to drain any residual power supply power.  Open the case and locate the 2032 coin cell battery on the motherboard.  Remove it for 10 minutes.  Reinstall and reconnect AC power and see if it fixed the F12 problem.  Considering age of an 8500 may be good time to replace the 2032 battery as general life is 5 years.

Pulling ram sticks doesn't make them good.

You have bad ram
