XPS 8700, CPU upgrade
I have an XPS 8700 with an i5-4460. Would a Xeon E3-1230v3 work? Or any other Haswell Xeons?

I don't think so. I used an i7-4790K. It would be about 36% faster than your current CPU. Works with stock heat sink, although I did replace the factory chassis fan with a Noctua NF-89 PWM Cooling Fan.
