XPS 8900, Nvidia RTX upgrade

Bought my Dell 8900 in 2016. Upgraded shortly after purchase with an Nvidia GTX 1060 based graphics card from Gigabyte that has worked well. Considering now upgrading again to a Nvidia RTX 2070 based card. I know this will also require a power supply unit upgrade. Has anyone already done this successfully? Mark

I selected the Zotac RTX 2070 Blower, model ZT-T20700A-10P.  It was priced at $449 from Amazon.

Other manufacturers sell 2070 blower cards but they were about $100 more at the time.  The 2070 Super card exceeded my budget

I picked a blower card because it can deal with the minimal ventilation in the Dell XPS case. I was concerned that open fan cards would overheat.

The tradeoff is that the blower card is a bit noisy, but nothing that bothers me. YMMV.

The card works well and I am pleased with the choice. Quake 2 RTX is beautiful!

it has to fit and not hit. (no actual card shown or full makers name or PN by maker, and link to it or spec page, by you)

there are 10 makers of cards and many phy. sizes, long short, etc. and fan counts.

see here, see all these wildly different cards, which ONE?

2070 picks, seems endless for size.

there is the 2070 and 2070 super.? hummmmm

the former uses 175 watts that latter 215, all by its self. (so do you r power budget and decide PSU)

first measure this and shop, fit is first. (endless PSU choices so....)

I do not think dell specs this length spec, and endless card sizes exist.  some are super long.

how ever reading the actual  cards spec, wins best,  and no card actually stated.

Thank you mlwinz. I'm preparing to do the same so this was very helpful. What power supply did you end up deciding to use?

This is a really nice unit. I went for overkill, since I plan to reuse the new PSU in a custom build PC next year.

good luck!

How do you upgrade from a (6) pin power connector (Nvidia GTX 1060) to the RTX 2070 Blower, model ZT-T20700A-10P, which is an (8) pin connector as stated in this thread?
