XPS 8900, SSD compatibility?
Hi everyone, I’ve had the 8900 pc for a very long time now and after this time I’ve been wanting to switch to an ssd instead of a hdd. I looked up that you had to plug in both the ssd and hdd at the same time in order to share files and I didn’t see a ssd cage when last opening up the tower. So, is there a way I can send all of my hdd storage to my ssd with this computer? Is there any external hardware or software that could make the process of sharing the information easier? Thanks, goodbye.

By switching from a HDD to a SSD, I assume you mean copying the OS over to the SSD and booting from the SSD. You cannot just copy the files, you either have to re-install the OS or clone the HDD.
To mount your SSD you will need a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter like this: https://www.newegg.com/p/2PC-0052-00018?Description=2.5%20to%203.5%20adapter&cm_re=2.5_to_3.5_adapter-_-2PC-0052-00018-_-Product
You can replace your HDD with the SSD by cloning the HDD. Depending on the SSD you buy, some come with software that can be downloaded to clone the HDD. If not, you could use Macrium Reflect Free Ediition to do the job. You could also purchase a SATA to USB adapter to connect the SSD externally but I do not recommend it because it would be a lot slower.
