XPS 8900 upgrade help please
Hi All,
I would like to upgrade my XPS 8900 so I can play GTA 5 without lag/shutter while driving fast. In addition, my current wireless (802.11bgn + Bluetooth 4.0, 2.4GHz, 1x1) does not support 5g network. Can I also upgrade my wireless card?
My XPS 8900 currently has:
1. 8GB Dual Channel DDR4 2133MHz (4GBx2)
2. NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 730 2GB DDR3
3. 1TB 7200 rpm Hard Drive
4. Integrated 7.1 with WAVE MAXXAudio Pro
5. 6th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-6400 Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.3 GHz).
I think my power supply is 450w.
My budget is within $400. What should I upgrade? Thank you for your help.

Ok...first a wifi card that supports dual band...

Then a GPU upgrade considering you want to keep the cost down...either a GTX 1050 Ti or a GTX 1060 3 or 6 GB depending on the cost in your area. Either of those cards will masively outperform your card. Keep in mind that the GTX 1060 need a 6 pin power plug which you may or may not have on your PSU. Usually they come with adapters or adapters are available at Amazon. The GTX 1050 Ti does not need an adapter at all. And the 1050 is well within your budget.

And maybe an additional 8 GB of RAM (2x4).

An SSD would be nice but would not do anything to help with FPS. Only make loading and accessing programs faster.
And last..

From my research it appears that my XPS 8900 purchased the beginning or 2016 takes a 2230 card and not the HH Mini. I will be opening mine up shortly to install one if it fits.
Okay, I am operating with the AC-8260NGW m.2 2230 freshly installed. My XPS 8900 indeed has the 2230 and not the HH mini card. Such a simple and cheap upgrade to have built in dual band, I don't know why the XPS did not simply come with an ac dual band card like the manual's indicate.
