XPS 8910, adding SSD, boot drive, instructions?
I have an XPS 8910 with a 1TB HDD and would like to install a 256GB SSD which would act as a C bootup drive. Can someone please explain how this is done? I have a Macrium backup software. Would I be able to restore Windows 10 and my other programs to the SSD and leave the data on the existing HDD?
Thanks for your help

First, I would backup all user data externally. How to proceed depends upon how much of the 1 TB HDD is being used. The simplest solution is to clone the HDD to the SSD if it will fit. This is a safest method because you still have your data on the HDD and externally.
If the HDD will not fit, a second solution would depend on whether you can erase enough of your user data to make it fit. Backup your user data externally then erase the user data on the HDD, then clone the HDD. This method preserves your bootable HDD in case there is a problem but your user data is external.
The third method is to remove the HDD and install the SSD and then install Windows 10. Your will also have to re-install all the Dell drivers and user software. In case there is a problem your HDD can be re-installed with all your data.
Personally, I brought a 500 GB SSD and cloned the HDD.
