XPS 8910 died
I have an XPS 8910 that just shut off, as if it were unplugged. I thought that was weird, so I pushed the power button and it turned back on. Three hours later, it shut off again and even after waiting 12 hours, would not turn back on. Any ideas?

Nothing happens when you press the power supply test button?
Can you try a different PC power cord? It's a standard cord so you may have one on another PC, TV or appliance to try.
If swapping the cord doesn't help, it's sounding like the power supply may have died if pressing the test button doesn't do anything. You can search this forum to see what replacement PSUs others have installed in the XPS 8910 to get some idea of what fits inside the case and has sufficient wattage for the PC model's requirements...

I forgot to mention, yes, I did try a different power cord that I brought from a Dell computer at work. Absolutely nothing happens when you press the test button or any of the other ones.
I also removed the CMOS battery as well as toggling the jumper.
I will look into getting a new power supply. Thank you for your help.

You can try one more thing before buying a PSU, assuming your comfortable working inside the PC.
Paperclip test:
Post back and let us know when you're up/running again.

OK. I missed the last comment and ordered a new PSU. I swapped it out, following all the steps as listed in the service manual. I discharged any remaining electricity by holding the power button for 15 seconds. I plugged it in directly to the wall and...... nothing. Not even a green light on the PSU.
I eventually tried the paper clip trick on the black and brown cables that was recommended and didn’t have any success on either PSU. However, when I tried it on the connector that goes to the motherboard and then plugged in the power, I got the green light on the PSU. On BOTH PSU's.

Black and brown? I suggested you jump black and green in the connector coming from the PSU to the motherboard...
Have you read this Dell KB article? You may have to strip it down to find the problem if both PSUs give the same results.
And there's always Dell's Out of Warranty Repair Service. You can contact them to get an estimate of the cost to repair if you can't find the problem or don't want to spend the time...

On my PSU the cables are black and brown.
Time to strip it down I guess...
Thank you, Ron! Stay tuned.
