XPS 8920, cannot install Windows 7 Pro
I have a Dell XPS 8920, , mfg date : 20170519. Originally shipped w\ Win 10 pro. My dilemma is: I gave up ever trying to use Win 10 period as I could not configure things and other software i already owned, to work with it. That being said, I finally decommissioned it altogether after pulling out the HD and attempting many times, using a SSD, with Windows 7 Pro which incidentally I have installed, prefer and love on ALL other PCs in my family with 100% success and use them everyday! For some reason, Dell has chosen to use a bios version that prevents the installation of win7 by simply not recognizing the keyboard or mouse during a clean fresh install...period. No amount of configuration in the setup bios will make any difference as believe me i have spent hours trying them ALL. This is a last ditch effort, reaching out to anyone in the community for a solution. Otherwise....this really nice, little used machine with an i7 processor is headed for the scrap bin. i'll probably remove the power supply, 8gb of memory, the graphics card, DVD drive, and maybe the processor chip.....and put the rest in the trash. I still shake my head as I've easily spent $10,000 on Dell products over the last 20 yrs! Is there any solution out there before I junk a perfectly good machine? Thankyou to any and all for any direct answer to help me decide!
Sincerely,
David W. Lewis

Windows 7 does have some attractive features that got lost in 10.
have you looked at this thread already? some users had figured out how to get USB ports working to install Win 7. Dell XPS 8920 SSD (Dual Boot) - Dell Community
