XPS 8930, Ryzen CPU?

I currently have an i7 9700 in my 8930 but would like to swap it out with a more powerful Ryzen CPU. Any concerns with this plan, any reason an AMD CPU should not be installed in this model?

I think if you verify the CPU socket and chipset on your current motherboard, you will find that it does not support the Ryzen socket type.  So you are stuck with the Intel core i-series CPU.

Socket AM4 = AMD Ryzen

Socket LGA1151 = Intel coir i7-9700

An AMD will not work in an Intel motherboard.   You would need a motherboard designed for the AMD Ryzen.

However with all the Dell proprietary mounting, connections, back panel, etc., a different Dell or standard ATX motherboard won't fit in the 8930.  You would have to build a new PC with new case, motherboard, CPU, CPU cooler, possibly power supply, etc.

How much RAM is in this system?

If it's 8 GB or less, you should consider upgrading that first...
