XPS 8930, SATA HDD missing

My new XPS 8930 doesn't have the 1TB HDD as advertised. Is the device manager not finding it, or did Dell forget to fit it?

@Patrick1631

Confirm the HDD power and SATA cables are intact and connected at both ends.

If the HDD is healthy, it may be a BIOS setting.

You should go to dell.com/support and enter your Service Tag. From there you can click on the 'View system configuration' link to check what was supposed to be delivered with your system. Did you also remove the side panel and look inside the computer to verify that the HDD is missing?

I assume you opened the case and did not see a 1TB hdd inside?

OK, I've done that

Thanks, but the service tag is not recognised. I see this is a common issue. I can't even register the PC without it

How to find the HDD in your new computer:

https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/us/en/04/xps-8930-desktop/xps-8930-service-manual/procedure?guid=guid-26cac413-efc2-4ebc-b0ba-249938c8f771&lang=en-us

The first thing you should do with a new desktop computer is open it up and confirm the hardware configuration you ordered and make sure everything is securely installed and connected after manufacturing and shipping... even if you don't know what you are doing.  And remove any loose screws laying around!
