XPS 8930, memory error code 2000-123, location XMM4
Recently unable to boot into windows 10, dell 8930 32gGB Ram (4x8)...
Supportassist reports:
error code 2000-123
Memory error detected Location XMM4
Validation 88221
System has been running perfectly until today. Latest bios is installed. CMOS battery removed and replaced after 10 minutes.
Removed each stick and replaced one at a time.. system booted without any problems. I continued to add sticks one at a time swapping banks to make sure the slot was not defective. System refuses to boot whenever all four sticks are installed (32GB) in any configuration. works without issues when only 24 gb is installed
system acts as though 32 gb is not allowed.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I would run a memory diagnostic (in the BIOS?) on each DIMM, installed one at a time in the same one slot. If they are ok, then maybe it's a MB slot.

What is the manufacturer and model number of the memory you are using? Was the memory Dell installed?

Well "Location XMM4" means the problem was triggered by RAM slot #4 (or the stick installed in it) if that helps focus your troubleshooting. Look at the numbering on the actual motherboard and not the service manual as I believe the service manual was printed incorrectly.
