XPS 8940, RAM upgrade, 2x8GB plus one 16GB?
Can you please help me? I have a XPS 8940 with 2x8GB Ram (together 16GB Ram). Is it possible to buy only one additional 16GB Ram module and install it in a separate bank? In parallel I would have my current Ram modules in two other banks. It would be great to have afterwards again dual channel modus for 32GB. Is that possible?
In case it works with the separate 16GB RAM module, should I buy the new one with similar specifications, like producer Samsung, 3200 Mhz, etc?

That memory configuration is not supported per Dell specs here. This forum post has more information. As for dual channel, the memory should be identical in specs. But a lot more on that here.
