XPS 8940, doesn't boot with iGPU, does with Nvidia dGPU

Hi.

If I try to boot with HDMI connected to the integrated graphics card (Intel UHD Graphics 750 of Intel i7-11700) it doesn't work, the screen is black and nothing more happens. If I press the power button it powers off instantly so it is not booting without video.

I a try booting with HDMI connected to dedicated card (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti) it boots correctly. And once it is booted I can change the HDMI cable to integrated one and it works.

I tried changing in BIOS the primary Display from Auto to Intel but not only did it not work, but it also did not allow me to enter BIOS again because when I booted with Nvidia card, I get no image until Windows started.

So I had to clear BIOS holding the power button for more than 15 seconds. So I can see BIOS again with the Nvidia card, but the issue continues, it doesn't boot with the Intel card.

I think it is a general issue, the problem is that it is very unusual to work with an integrated graphics card having a dedicated one, but I think it should be resolved.

Any idea? Thanks!

Yeah, I know I'll still have to switch cables in case I want to use the other video card, but no problem about this, it is uncommon, what bothered me was being unable to restart or boot the computer without changing cables.

Thanks for your comments about the hardware, I think we can leave it like this, I know I should change my work way, but I'm quite satisfied for now and I think it is working as it should. (I changed the CPU heatsink because it reached really high temps with the original one and the SSD is working perfectly)

People who are system admins like myself are used to remote servers and workstations have used dummy monitors for quite a while.  Remote desktop has been a thing for over 20 years now.  Its also a good troubleshooting tool when you are using post card or other diag methods to see why a pc is not booting.

The HDCP aspect of hdmi and display port is why windows must check because it refuses to display a picture unecrypted on a monitor aka vga doesnt work for movies, netflix, etc.
