XPS 8950, DDR5 4800MHz ram speed?

How do I get DDR5 4800MHz ram speed? I have an XPS 8950 with 128GB of ram that is set to only 3600MHz? That is too slow. How do I enable the XMP in the BIOS so I get the full potential out of my very expensive ram?

@VictoryPete The Setup and Specifications only indicate memory speeds of 3600 MHz, 4000 MHz, and 4400 Mhz are supported and 128 GB is only supported at 3600 MHz. I do not believe that XMP is supported, it never was in XPS models before the XPS 8950.

Regarding this concern, the system is shipped with 128GB memory (4x32 GB, dual-channel DDR5) and the speed that you are getting is the same as expected from this configuration. You can refer to page 15 in the online XPS 8950 Setup and Specifications PDF.

The memory specifications were also shown in the FAQ XPS 8950.

VictoryPete, we all understand how frustrating something like this can be. But Dell gave you a link on the 3rd, and the document there clearly says that the computer in question doesn't support 4800Mhz at all, and that you can only get 4400Mhz if you use one or two memory modules (not all four).

It's awesome that dstewart51 gave you some additional tips on how to make this work, but he is just helping you understand a way to do what the doc says to do. This is just my personal opinion, but I don't think that these frustrations need to lead us to be so unkind, even if we are not getting the information we need right away. If only I could practice what I preach...

Before you think I'm a Dell lackey or something, I found this discussion because I was searching for similar information on my new XPS 15 laptop. I didn't know that Dell's docs had information that specific about memory speeds, so the documentation they gave you helped me. I think it had the information you needed too.

Dell Support please respond here as I have tried to explain the Private Messaging here does not work for me. I can see your message in my emails only

I do have XMP in my BIOS but I can't seem to enable it.

I cannot see or use Private Messaging!  I am really getting tired of dealing with Dell and the constant problems. Time to return this Boat Anchor and go back to HP.

Yes I saw those specs before but I am hoping they can be changed in the BIOS. Dell is trying to help in a Private Message but I cannot see Private Messaging clearly and can only see their responses in my email alerts. They do not respond here for some strange reason. All the more reason to give up on Dell altogether

I took out 64G this morning and ran the tests. 128 is better at this point but the 64G did not reset to 4400Mhz like I had assumed. This makes me think that if I had the stock 64G XPS 8950 that is set to 4400Mhz and then add 64G the total system may be at 4400Mhz which would be faster than mine at 3600Mhz. This is getting irritating. If I can't get the 4800Mhz out of the 128G of DDR5 Ram I have paid top dollar for, I will be returning this Dell XPS 8950 and buying an expensive PC elsewhere where I am not being forced to have low performing DDR5 Ram

Dell is at fault for not sharing the info but they would just be telling us hay the XMP3 is not ready for people to use right now. Maybe in the future will get better performance and more realistic performance. but because Intel goofed up DDR5 its what it is right now.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you won't find the performance your looking to get easily... 1st and foremost the reason XMP3 isn't enabled or available on these Dell systems is cause Intel hasn't done a good job at making it a good solution right now... have a look at Jayz 2 cents video were he tried to get DDR5 and xmp3 to work....

I think it's time Dell made a comment here acknowledging this issue.

The Private Message option does not  work properly. I have a ridiculously narrow viewing and typing window. Its unusable.
