XPS 8950, DDR5 4800MHz ram speed?

How do I get DDR5 4800MHz ram speed? I have an XPS 8950 with 128GB of ram that is set to only 3600MHz? That is too slow. How do I enable the XMP in the BIOS so I get the full potential out of my very expensive ram?

No, it isn't, it is a compromise because there is an issue with the 12th Generation i9 12900K CPU and the DDR5. You just can't be honest and admit it.

Make sure you are using DIMM's 1 and 3 (both white) with the 2x 32GB sticks, then pull the CMOS battery and reset the BIOS.  You should be able to get the two sticks to 4400MHz.  But you wont be able to get all 4 sticks to run past 3600MHz.

Thanks for the reply, it's nice to get actual help and not just a vague response.

This is not a solution of any kind. Until the factory installed DDR5 rated at 4800MHz is operating at 4800MHz and not 4400MHz, this is a compromise system that cost me $5000. Sorry but you do not get to "Sugar Coat" this compatibility issue. The internet is full of information regarding the compatibility issue with Intel's 12th Gen and DDR5.

I cannot see or respond to Private Messages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Please do not respond to me in a Private Message, As I have mentioned many times the window to see and respond to Private Messages is ridiculously too narrow and small.

Probably never.  This isn't a problem and nothing needs to be fixed. It is just the way this PC is., it was designed this way. RAM speed is dictated by a few different factors. Just because the memory is capable of 4800MHz, that does not mean that is what it will run at in every machine with any CPU and any motherboard.

When is this going to be fixed? My DDR5 Ram is factory set to 4400MHz when it is capable of 4800MHz.

What are you so smug about, are you a Dell Fanboy? A $5000 XPS 8950 should have optimum Ram speed.

I am just pointing to the facts, are you a whinny boy? The XPS 8950 does have optimum RAM speed for the overall system design, taking into account the relatively recent release of the Alder Lake processors and their new architecture.

So you are a smug Dell Fanboy, so your opinion is invalid.

Just noticed that my 8950 has its memory running on 4400 MHz.

Thanks for providing the FAQ link showing that the 8950 only supports up to 4400 MHz.  I went back to the customization page, which indeed shows 4400 MHz.  However, the 8950 specs page shows 4800 MHz, which is very misleading and should be fixed.

I'm about to buy XPS 8950, reading this thread I've understood the following and I would like to get it confirmed:

I can buy for example 2x32GB DDR5 5600MHz to achieve 64GB RAM and it will run at 4400MHz, am I right?

I want to be sure that buying DDR5 with frequency above 4400MHz is still going to be compatible though running at lower frequency.

Thank you very much for any answers / comments

It may or may not. If it is XMP it may run slower. I would get the memory from Crucial because Dell's can be picky with RAM. Provided that the RAM is compatible with the 8950 it should run at 4400MHz when only 2 slots are used.
