XPS One 2720, Audio on HDMI Input
I have plugged in via the HDMI input an Amazon Fire stick. Video works fine but audio is at a really high volume. I have tried to lower the volume thru the volume control on screen (lower right corner) but it does not respond. Any suggestions how to lower the volume?

What volume control are you referring to since the light buttons are not for volume control.
I don't have a Firestick, but is there some app that controls it? The only time I have used the HDMI in was with another computer with an HDMI output. In that case, all controls are on the other computer. If the Firestick doesn't have some type of controls, even if it can be used in such a port, then I don't know where you can go.
Are you sure it is compatible with the HDMI port on the 2720?
If you plug the Firestick into a normal TV does it work as expected?
Edit: I went to look at the device and it seems to have a remote control for normal operations.
