XPS27 Stuck in Reboot Loop
I experienced a power cut today and after the power cut, my computer stuck in reboot loop
It will always go to a blue screen after the DELL logo and it says:
"Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart We will restart for you.
Stop code: code page_fault_in_nonpaged_area
what failed: iaStorA.sys."
I cannot even go to the automatic repair page. I directly go to the blue screen all the time.
Thanks,

You're going to need (or need to prepare) a flash drive with the version of Windows you have installed on it. Attach that, press F12 and boot the system from the flash drive. Once that's done, you can try a repair install.
If you need details, we'll need to know what OS the system is running (Windows 8, 10, etc.).

Hi ejn63,
I have tried this. I choosed to boot from my USB. But it still immediately goes to the same blue screen after the windows logo.
I tried LEGACY boot and UEFI boot and both failed.
I also tried the DELL hardware diagnosis and it says there is no issue.
I don't know what to do...
Thanks

Sounds like an issue with your storage controller driver. Did your system pass [F12] preboot diagnostics?
Did the SATA operation change?

Yes, my system passed the F12 ePSA in quick test and extended test. So I guess there is no issue with hardware?
I did not do anything on SATA operation. I saw it is RAID ON in BIOS settings.
I agree that it could be issue with storage controller driver. Maybe the power cut damaged the driver but now I cannot go into the system...
Thanks

1. I wish. No, it just means it didn't DETECT a problem. Chances are around 90% it's OK.
2. Can you get into Safe-Mode or the Recovery Console ?

I cannot get into the Safe-Mode or the Recovery Console.
After third attemp to boot, it says "Preparing automatic repair" below the DELL logo, but when the white circle begins to rotate, it immediately goes to the blue screen...

OK, then is sounds like it is toasted. Is there anything vital on this machine?
Are you ready to try a full-wipe of HDD and clean-install of Windows?

This would be my last choice. There are a lot of important data and documents in my computer.
My computer works perfectly in the past few months, why a simple power cut caused this? What if it happens again in future?
If I decide to do the full-wipe of HDD and clean-install of Windows, how should I do it?
Still thanks so much for the help.

1. Then you should have a backup. Where is it?
2. Every desktop computer should be attached to an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) ... like an APC Battery-Backup.
3. If you have a UPS, it runs the computer for a while until power comes back on or it can be shut-down properly.
If still no UPS, then there is a good chance it will crash the hard-disk again.

My guess is the power cutoff defaulted the UEFI BIOS setup to it's defaults. I mentioned SATA operation because of the specific error message. Does this system have a 32 GB SSD Cache Drive because it's likely that, that's causing the issue. If so the SATA operation should be IRST and not AHCI or RAID. Also if running a system with Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 preinstalled you should have a UEFI Boot with Secure Boot Enabled. Change your UEFI BIOS settings and see if you can boot.
If that doesn't work, attempt data recovery using Fedora.See here for details:

I have backup for most important stuff on cloud or other PC...not a big trouble but will take long time to reset them.
I will get a UPS after it is fixed.
Thanks so much!

Yes there is a 32G SSD Drive. The SATA operation is RAID on. It is windows10 system.
I have tried to disable the secure boot. Unfortunatelly, it does not help.
I am wondering why I cannot even start with the win10 installation media from USB. It will go to the same blue screen.
Thanks!

You are pressing F12 on boot?
You can wait there, examine menu, go into BIOS or run ePSA, and finally ... select the bootable flash-drive, right?

Yes. I did the same as you said. By the UEFI boot mode, it will always go the blue screen after the DELL logo. I also tried the legacy boot mode, it is closer. The windows logo (not dell) from USB appears, but when a white circle begins to rotate, it goes to same blue screen again.
I tried to boot from USB in another PC and it works. So there is no problem with the USB.
I have contact DELL technical support today. They said the HD is crashed and will replace it with a new one. Now I am figuring out if it is possible to recover my data.
Thanks!
