XPS8930, Passmark MemTest86
Has anyone configured memory test parameters with MemTest86 for the 8930 ?
Passmark pre-configured it to run using default parameters, but I'm not seeing in the user guide an outline of what those default parameters are before running. it does allow some changes with the free version.
Either case, it would nice to have info on optional parameters to specify for these test selections:
CPU Selection ? single, parallel, round robin, sequential
RAM benchmark ? test mode e.g, (memory speed per access step size, per block size, etc)
I don't want to use MemTest86 to test for overclocking. I simply want the runtime to test for errors

Thanks @Vic384 I missed that on their main page.
memtest86 recently finished running. With the default settings, the tests passed
The default CPU selection is parallel which one wouldn't know until before running it. There's a little asterisk next to it, I guess that's what that stands for. The RAM benchmark default selection is, memory speed per access step size, which I didn't learn until I dug all through their forum.
The reason for the questions were because I'm troubleshooting what the cause is of the hardware issues I'm having. The thinking was that a more 'advanced' run might eliminate the modules
Ive been able to eliminate the PSU and the graphics card
It appears the likely candidate might be system board. Visual inspection of the capacitors under a magnifying glass shows they're fine. But who could really tell if any are bad, even if they aren't bulging, or have signs of burn markings.... or whether transistors are bad.
Ive ordered a new Dell replacement main board. The memtest was to eliminate every possible component.
no, I don't believe its the CPU. The symptoms just aren't consistent with a failing CPU
