exception not handled in amustor.sys suddenly
suddenly I came back to the desktop and it had bluescreen with an "exception not handled in amustor.sys" during boot. The auto repair during boot did not work. I really don't want to reload a fresh windows image. The web searchs are all over the map about what to do. Can someone (everyone) point me to a correct solution? Thanks.

You don't windows does not accommodate download of critical system files.
You reinstall clean on a working hard drive.

Always include the exact PC model in your posts..!
From what I see, amustor.sys is a USB storage device driver that's used with card readers. Do you have a card reader in this PC?
Does the PC boot at all now? If not, you may need to create a bootable USB stick with the Win 10 ISO file on it. Ddownload it for free from Microsoft site and follow the instructions to create a bootable USB stick. Once you have that bootable USB, connect it to the PC before powering on. As soon as you power on, press F12 and look for the option to boot from USB. Then follow the prompts to repair...
You might be able to force Windows to launch a repair without the USB stick by interrupting its attempt to boot by powering the PC on then quickly off and then on again, at least 3 times in a row. Some peeps say it took them 4 or 5 interrupted boots to launch the repair...

AmUStor.inf
Windows Vista 32 bit
Alcor Micro USB 2.0 Card Reader
USB\VID_058F&PID_6332
WINDOWS SYSTEM FILES that handle mass storage devices are infected with USB Malware.
There is no download a file fix for this.
