9710. 2 Amber, 8 White
Got my 9710 yesterday. Tried it out for a half hour before work last night. Uninstalled some bloatware. Decrypted my system drive and disabled Bitlocker service. Went into bios and disabled touchscreen and Power on on lid opening. This morning when I got home I powered it on. I got the dell logo then black screen. Then 2 Amber followed by 8 white lights repeatedly. F2 and F12 do nothing. Amy advice appreciated. Thanks.

From the manual, it's listed as below. If the system is within 30 days of shipment from Dell, your best option is to return the DOA system for a refund. Then re-order.

Hi there, this happened to me not once but TWICE. I purchased my 9710 on January and just after 1 week of use I entered the UEFI BIOS and changed some settings. After restart I had this issue and Dell Support team troubleshooted the device and then advice for a motherboard replacement due to the power rail failure. A month later I received my device and entered BIOS... I was in real disbelief when AGAIN the same happened, and again the motherboard was replaced.
After the second replacement I updated the UEFI BIOS firmware to the latest version and have not access it yet, I do have the confidence to access the BIOS even with the latest firmware. Dell has to do something with this, I am pretty sure this happens A LOT. For the moment my laptop is working flawlessly.

jcalvarez07 Yeah happened twice for me too, on the very first day I got them. That's when I got off the Dell train and got a refund. I really, really wanted that beautiful display, but if these systems can't even handle a couple of minor bios changes, I didn't have much hope for the longevity of them.
Best of luck with yours though.

With pretty much 100% certainty, disabling the touchscreen in the BIOS of at least some of the 2710's (mine included) bricks the system.
This is clearly a hardware/software issue with these systems.

Sorry for your trouble my friend. I've since gotten a 9720 and have not had that issue. I wish you good luck.

@adifferentusername Interesting. I have a 9710 with the 4K display (and touch). Have you successfully disabled touch in the BIOS of the 9720 without an issue? What's the configuration of the system? Presumably similar to the 9710 that failed for you.

The 9710s were both i7-11800H/16GB DDR4/4K Touch/RTX 3050/Win 10 Pro. Had the same issue with both on the first day of use. The trackpads were quite wonky too.
My current 9720 is i7-12700H/32GB DDR5/4K Touch/RTX 3050/Win 11 Home. Got a great deal on it at Costco and 90 day return policy.
I have successfully disabled Touch and a few other settings in Bios without issue and the trackpad is pretty good. Really loving this laptop even though I swore I'd never buy another Dell after the 9710.
