Alert Keyboard Initialization failure & Keyboard not found - XPS Laptop

Yesterday, I received these alerts and could only book my laptop while it was connected to my docking setup.  When I try to start my laptop, it makes a ticking sound and I receive the two alerts.  If I'm connected to the docking station my external keyboard and mouse intermittently work to start up the laptop.  Otherwise, I have no way to use the laptop keyboard or mouse to navigate.  What should I do?
