Alternative To a Power Button?

Hey there,

I have a Dell XPS 13 9350 that wasnt turning on, now I know unfortunately that the power button has stopped working. I know this to be the case as I removed the casing of the laptop where I unplugged and plugged the battery back in (as I initially thought it was a battery problem). This Booted the laptop back up, the laptop was working perfect, everything was working as it should. I did a battery report and concluded the battery was fine.

I thought I had fixed it however when I shut down the laptop I could no longer turn it back on, I unplugged and plugged the battery back in and it booted up, To test my theory that the power button wasnt working, when the laptop was awake I tryed to put it to sleep by using the power button but to no response.

For now I have just modified the BIOS so the laptop can boot up when plugged into its AC charger, I also just try to keep it in a permanent sleep state. However this is not a permanent fix as its no longer quite a portable laptop.

Just wondering if there is an alternative way of booting up the laptop thats more portable than plugging it into a wall?

I will get it fixed at a laptop repair if i have too but would rather find an alternative as its an expensive job just to replace that small part.

The power buttons LED light still turns on when the laptop boots, it still clicks as well.

Thank you for your time, Much appreciated.

Max,

Did you find a solution? I'm going through the same issue with my 9550 right now.
