An XPS with a High-Power CPU, BUT without the Nvidia Graphic controller
I don’t understand why LG is about the only company that has seen the light (with their LG Gram):
Make a laptop that favor low battery consumption over graphical performance.
Sure, you can by the new XPS 17 that utilizes the built-in Intel graphics - But only with an I5 CPU, I7 or I9 CPUs are not made available.
I think we are many that would prefer longer run-time per charge over gaming performance.
Thanks / Peter

Thanks for your replies jphughan,
Unfortunately, Dell is only letting me configure a 17" without GPU, and with an I7 or I9 CPU, if I select the previous generation mobile precision 7750 with Gen. 10 cores.

@Breinholm Sorry, I just saw you said XPS 17. In that case you want the Precision 5700 Series. As to preferences, Dell only recently relaunched a 17” XPS system, so they might still be testing the waters to see what people want.

@Breinholm The Precision 5500 Series always has a sister system of the XPS 15 at any given time. The main differences are that the Precision uses Quadro rather than GeForce GPUs if you use a discrete GPU, and it offers a lot more configuration flexibility, and (probably predictably) those elements mean that it costs more.

@Breinholm Sorry about that. Dell sometimes makes additional configurations available a while after launch. Or this could be a case of Dell restricting choices a bit more than normal due to the ongoing semiconductor shortage. I don’t know for sure, but if you’re not in a hurry for a new laptop, you might want to keep checking periodically to see if you can eventually get the configuration you want.

Thanks jphughan,
I have my XPS 15 UHD - I9, so I'm not in a hurry. But I came from a 17 inch and would like to come back to the big screen - with an extended battery runtime (if possible).
