Audio not working. Says "No Audio output device is installed

Jump to solution

My audio on my XPS 13 9350 has been working fine in the past. Then, I left for a couple hours. When I came back, I couldn't increase or decrease my volume. When hovering over the sound icon, it says "No Audio Output Device is installed." I tried some solutions, but they don't work.

Someone please help!

Hi I found a solution to this!!!

My audio also stopped working today on my Dell XPS 13 9350, and I spent hours trying to fix and I finally did!

Google "Support for XPS 13 9350 Drivers & Downloads" and go on Dell's website.

Scroll down until you find "Realtek ALC3266/3246 High Definition Audio Driver" and download that.

After downloading it, open it up, run it, and follow the steps that it gives you.

Then your laptop will restart and VOILA your audio SHOULD work again, at least, that's how I got mine to start working again.

I hope this works for you!!! 🙂

Same thing happened to me, on this exact same date, and I remember there was an Windows update when I shut down the laptop earlier. So I restored the machine to a point before the update. And voila, the speaker's working again! Hope yours will too.

Yes, happened to me to but I have managed to fix it. I had to reinstall the driver manually and it's now working again.
The problem is with Dell update issuing an update for Realtek but it seems to fail in some way. After reinstalling the driver Dell update still pops up asking me to update but i'm not going to for now.

Hi there,

The same issue happened to me today. But now I've resolved it by reinstalling the driver. Maybe you can try the methods in this post: https://www.drivethelife.com/windows-10/fix-no-audio-output-device-is-installed-windows-10.html

Same issue here, the audio driver disappeared this morning. (I have the XPS 15 from 2016).

Didn't install the "Driver Talent" suggested in another comment because it looks fishy / bloatware

Downloaded the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver directly from the vendor : https://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-CARD/REALTEK/Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver-6-0-1-8287...

Installed the cab from Device Manager and it's fixed

My XPS 13 says the same thing as of today at 11:58 am MST which is the exact same time the IntcDAud was added as a driver service - intcdaud.inf_amd64_6c37b9b3e50bbb9b device was automatically installed at the same time, listed under the events tab!
