Cannot install driver 9Q23 Systems BIOS version x38

Dell Support Assist recommended installation of driver, xps 9Q23 Systems BIOS version x38.  I tried repeatedly to install it, but the installation always fails.  I have 2 questions:

1) do I really need to do this?  My computer works fine and I don't want to do something complicated or risky if I don't need to.  Specifically, the reason I started down this path is that I can't install an update to Windows 10, and various instructions say that the installation might be failing because drivers are not up to date.  Is updating this driver likely to fix this problem?

2) if I need to update this driver, how can I do it?
