DNS not found and Intel Optane memory error after Windows update

I updated my laptop yesterday and after the update, WiFi didn't work saying DNS not found.

Also, I had an error message regarding Intel Optane memory pinning.

I tried the solution in the other post related to Intel optane memory but that didn't fix the DNS problem.

I had to restore to the previous version before the update and now I am scared to update again.

My laptop model is XPS 15 9570 and the below are the update that has been done yesterday.

  • Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2
  • Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Version 1.329.3175.0)
  • Realtek - SoftwareComponent - 1.0.0.311

I don't know which one caused the problem but can anyone help

1. What WiFi adapter is installed in your system? If it is not a Realtek adapter (which is normally sound related), then the problem was probably caused by the 20H2 installation.

2. Are you using a router? If yes, is that where your DNS server is defined? If yes, what server IDs are defined there?

3. If you are not using a router, then check what DNS servers are defined on your computer. You can use this site (https://howtofixwindows.com/dns-server-not-responding/ ) as a guide. Also make sure that the DNS Client service is running which is mentioned there as well. You may need to change the DNS servers to something like Google or Open DNS which is in that article too.
