Dell XPS 13 9310, Display issue after installing update!
Hello,
My Dell XPS 13 9310 with the 11th generation i7 processor, Intel(R) Iris Xe Graphics, and preinstalled Ubuntu 20.04 (Kenel 5.6.0.1022-oem) just arrived yesterday. After installing the suggested updates, I restarted the laptop and it has been restarted with flickering/tearing (horizontal lines) and I cannot see and do anything. Then it goes into GNU GRUB options.
I restored the system into the original configuration and have updated firmware to the last version (Ver. 1.1.1) and after installing the updates, it has still the same issue.
I have tried Ubuntu 18.04 and after installing updates the same issue came back again!
Thanks in advance for your comments!

Just wanted to say thankyou @AttilaZ
My XPS 13 arrived a couple of weeks ago, and initially no issues. A few days ago I have the graphical pink/purple/green glitch out, and then a full restart. The odd black screen too. Came across this thread when I searched for the symptoms.
Sure enough Windows (or Dell update) had left me with (or updated to) the IRIS XE driver 27.20.100.8935 which is well out of date compared to the drivers on Intel's Website.
Followed AttilaZ's post on page 6 and installed the latest version available (9168 now).
Other than the driver looping on restart, until cancelled. No issues now. Hopefully will stay fixed (I've disabled Windows 10 updating drivers too. Just google it for instructions).
Pretty poor of Dell not to be aware of the solution nor to push it to people who are calling them. Also poor of Windows to force push driver updates that are out of date, although I remember there is a certification process to getting your drivers registered with the Windows service, so who knows where the problem really exists.
Otherwise, this laptop has been great. Bought it to replace a much older macbook pro. Couldn't move to a new M1 chip as I need developer VMs for Linux. So the new ARM mac's are basically useless now for me. No worries. Prefer Windows to be genuinely honest.

Just chiming in to say I have the same issue on the same machine, XPS 13 9310. Wanted folks to know this is still happening in March, 2021. Going to try install the Intel drivers like you've suggested. Thanks! And agree that Dell needs to do more to address what is clearly a widespread issue on their flagship model.

March 15: Have the same issue, Intel Xe driver is from March.
Flickering colors happen when the internal screen goes to sleep and is wakened up again.
Flickering happens on internal screen only and not on external.
So I guess some power saving mode has issues.
I didn't disable Panel Self Refresh because this eats up to an hour of battery time which I'm not willing to sacrifice.
Dell: You can do better! This is my third XPS 13 and each model had some sort of driver issues.

* Download/Save this Intel UHD graphics driver version 27.20.100.9466 A05 to the Windows desktop
* Uninstall the current Intel UHD graphics driver via Device Manager
* Press Windows key + X
* Open Display Adapters
* Right click Intel HD Graphics
* Click, "Uninstall device"
* Follow the prompts but do not restart
* Close Device Manager
* Run the downloaded driver. Restart when done

All,
The XPS 13 9310 and different model XPS 13 9310 2-in-1 use different drivers!
XPS 13 9310, 27.20.100.9466, A05, 4/12/21, N0K1N
The driver I linked to in my previous reply is ONLY for the XPS 13 9310, not the different model XPS 13 9310 2-in-1. XPS 13 9310 2-in-1 owners should go here to get drivers for their laptop.

Do you have a driver for FHD+ display as well? Or would the UHD driver works?
I got a yellowish tint that I can't seems to fix.
