Dell XPS 13'' 9360 cursor jumps around and is erratic

Very often throughout the day, my cursor will erratically jump (usually to the bottom of the screen) when I'm using the touchpad on my Dell XPS 13" 9360 laptop. It has happened for years but I always used an external mouse (it doesn't happen with an external mouse). Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks!
