Dell XPS 13 (9370) - Time-out keyboard backlight not working

Hey everyone,

I just updated to the new 1.4.0 BIOS for my XPS 13 9370. This is supposed to include the following feature:

- Add Keyboard Backlight Timeout on AC\Battery feature in BIOS Setup menu,

and I have the respective options in my BIOS.

However, if I change the values, they are not properly saved. For example, I changed the backlight to 1 minute on AC (standard: 10 seconds), and no matter if I save it just like that, or as a "custom profile" (I think that's what it was called..), it is never remembered after leaving the BIOS, whether leaving towards Windows, or simply hopping back into the BIOS right after leaving it - it's back to 10 seconds, the setting and the behavior of the XPS.

Is anyone else having the same issue?

I gave it a go too and got the same behaviour you're experiencing. Must be a bug in the new BIOS.

This was a major frustration for me with my XPS 13 9370. It was no problem with my older XPS 13s, so I was baffled when tech support sent me on a wild and fruitless goose chase in order to be able to set the time-out (which was almost instant -- infuriating) on this newer computer. Finally, and weirdly, I was told that the machine can't do it and they put me in touch with returns, saying I should exchange it for a Dell model that has this "feature"! But then the new BIOS comes --- which tech support obviously knew nothing about. For me, the BIOS setting works --- what a relief --- but in case it matters, I did NOT save it as a custom setting. I unticked "custom" ... and just saved it.
