Dell XPS 15 9500 Finger print reader no longer working. solution

My fingerprint reader randomly stopped working, windows setup said that the device was not found and the fingerprint device was no longer in the device manager under Biometric devices.

Installing the fingerprint driver just gave me an error saying it could not find the device.

Just wanted to share what worked for me.

1. Go to bios by restarting and pressing F12 on boot.
2. Click the Bios Setup tile.
3. Click Integrated devices and scroll all the way down.
4. Go to miscellaneous devices, turn off the fingerprint scanner and press save.
5. Check the box for fingerprint scanner again to turn it back on again and press and save.
6. Restart device. It works again right away.
