Dell XPS 15 9500 Triple Monitor Setup
I have the newest (2020 model) Dell XPS 15. I'd like to buy a third HD 1080P monitor and have the laptop itself run with the screen closed (so I won't be using the laptop screen for display). I was thinking of buying this docking station but am not sure that it would work. Before I buy a third monitor and an expensive docking station, I'd love to hear if this is doable with this docking station from Amazon:

I might even consider buying a cheaper docking station and use the 1080P VGA:

@Someshwar21 The XPS 15 9500 only supports three total active displays, regardless of how they're connected. If you want three external displays, you will need to set the internal display to "Disconnect this display" before you can enable the third external display. This limitation is because the Intel GPU built into the XPS 15 9500's CPU only supports three displays, and on that system, the Intel GPU has control of the display outputs, not the NVIDIA GPU. The newer XPS 15 9510 uses CPUs that incorporate the newer Intel Xe GPU, which can support four displays.

@pfi203 You didn't specify the resolution of the first two external displays you plan to use. That would have been helpful. But for the purposes of this answer, I'll assume you'll be using 3x 1080p displays. When using a USB-C device that also wants to carry USB 3.x data, as this hub will want to do, running triple 1080p is only possible with a system and device that supports DisplayPort 1.4/HBR3. That hub you linked appears to support it, but the XPS 15 9500 only supports DisplayPort 1.2/HBR2. The specs claiming DP 1.4 support on the non-Thunderbolt port on the right of the system are incorrect, because all USB-C/TB3 outputs on this system are wired to the Intel GPU, and that GPU only supports DP 1.2. So that hub won't work for triple 1080p with your system.
If you want to run triple 1080p, you'll need a Thunderbolt dock. The WD19TB would allow you to run that AND provide enough power to run your XPS 15 9500 properly, which wouldn't be possible through typical docks because the XPS 15 9500 is designed for a 130W power source, which is more than the 100W max of the official USB PD spec. Dell did something proprietary on some of their systems and docks to support 130W over USB-C/TB3, but you won't find that implemented elsewhere. Of course the WD19TB is a lot more expensive than that hub you found, but it comes with its own power supply, which means you'll free up your current power supply to be parked elsewhere rather than having to use it every time you sit down at your dock and take it with you every time you leave.
I really wouldn't recommend using VGA. It looks noticeably worse than any other option since VGA is analog whereas everything else is digital. And 1080p is near the max of what VGA supports, so the side effects of analog video are even more noticeable.

@jphughan Yes my other displays are also 1080p connected with HDMI. So I can't get a cheaper dock and connect it to one of my thunderbolt ports (on the left side of my dell xps 15)? What would happen if I used that dock anyway (the more expensive one)?
If I got the WD19TB, would that support 3 4K displays connected to my xps laptop? Thanks so much!

@Someshwar21 Assuming you want to keep using the built-in display alongside the external displays, the only way to exceed GPU limits around maximum simultaneous displays is with USB video dongles that rely on "indirect display" technology such as DisplayLink -- not to be confused with DisplayPort. These dongles plug into a USB port -- you can even use a USB port on the dock itself -- and give you an HDMI or DisplayPort output. However, indirect display technology has some drawbacks that can be significant in certain use cases. I wrote about those in the post marked as the answer in this thread. If those drawbacks would be acceptable to you on at least one display, then I'd suggest a single display DisplayLink dongle from a company like Plugable. If those drawbacks would not be acceptable, then unfortunately you'd either have to give up using the internal display while using your three external displays, or get a laptop that can support four total displays.

Thank you for your replay,
there is one more issue I am facing, with Dell WD19TB Dock which I have connected to my XPS9500 ,
Since I am not able to use all four screen I have closed the display of the Laptop done the close lid setting.
when I power on the electric supply the Laptop starts automatically without even pressing the power on bitton on the dock. I don,t understand it is dock isuee or setting issue..
Scondly
Also for the display link plugable solution , I couldnt follow the solution in th thread provided.

@Someshwar21 Try keeping the lid open, then setting the built-in display to "Disconnect this display", then enabling the third external display. Then you should be able to close the lid and keep the external displays active. Otherwise, maybe try setting it up in Intel Graphics Control Panel / Command Center?
The power on behavior you're seeing is from a BIOS setting called "Wake on Dell USB-C docks". It causes the system to wake up when connected to a dock, and it might also cause that behavior if you were already connected to a powered off dock and then turn the power on. But you can disable that option. At least that's what I found on my older XPS 13 9350.
In terms of DisplayLink, the post I linked wasn't a solution. It was an explanation of problems you might encounter when using DisplayLink, such as sluggish video performance. But if you're ok with that, the solution is simple. Get a basic DisplayLink dongle, install the DisplayLink software, plug the DisplayLink dongle into a USB port on your system or dock, and connect a display to the video output of the dongle.
