Dell XPS 15 Update 2020?

Hello, I am planning to buy a Dell XPS 15, but I am curious if there will be an Update in 2020. It would be awesome if somebody could provide me some information about a possible release date. I am hoping there will be a design update similar to the Dell XPS 13 (2020).

Rumor is that there will indeed be a significantly redesigned XPS 15 this year (which is good because the current XPS 15's design dates back to the 9550 model that's several years old now) and that it will launch in April or May.  Of course given the whole COVID-19 mess, things might be delayed, but if you can wait a bit, I certainly would if I were in your position.  The current XPS 15 only has a single USB-C/TB3 port, which just isn't enough for a high-end laptop being purchased in 2020, in my opinion.

Ok thank you very much for the information. I hope there will be an official statement/announcement soon, so I can plan a bit better.

I agree with you on this, two should be the minimum. Also better cooling in the XPS 15 would be nice.

Will probably still come with modern standby, and thus be completely unusable as a laptop.

But hey, it's thin and pretty, and that's all that matters, right?

It has not been announced.  The only information out there is leaked - and therefore speculative.

@trevorgoodchild  a hybrid hard drive only improves performance over a standard spinning hard drive by incorporating a multi-GB flash memory cache.  But it's still significantly slower than a proper SSD where everything is stored in flash memory rather than only a few GB being cached there.  That said, 5-7 minutes to boot seems incredibly long, but of course that depends on the applications and services you've installed.  If you just had Windows and your baseline drivers installed, it wouldn't take anywhere near that long to boot, in which case the long boot time would be attributable to things you've chosen to add on top of that.

Please reconsider your decision of buying Dell XPS laptops.

I have an xps 15 9550. 4k Screen. Good looking device. Hybrid 1tb hard drive which supposedly helps the device boot much faster.

The laptop looks and feels quite good, but, it's performing  from the beginning. And it is a very expensive device for this performance.

It takes about 5-7 min to boot and be ready to use. Which is not acceptable. Not in 2020, not in 2014.

It's performing much worse than what it theoretically should do.

Reconsider.

Of course performance is going be bad with a standard hard disk of any kind.  What you should have said is don't buy any laptop that doesn't have an SSD.
