Dell XPS 7390 Windows 11 Start Menu not working

Hi,

Upgraded my Dell XPS 7390 to Windows 11 during beta and found the start menu not working so I switched back to Windows 10. Now with the full release of Windows 11, I have upgraded again and the start menu still does not work.

Windows log files show crash of StartMenuExperienceHost.exe caused by ControlLib.dll each time start menu is pressed.

I have found that if I disable the Display Adapter in Device Manager (Intel Iris XE) then re-enable it, start menu starts working again until I restart my computer, then it stops working until I disable the display adapter again.

I have updated to the latest display adapter driver.

So far I have tried an upgrade, run SFC scans and disk check scans, and re-installed windows to no avail. Rolling back to Windows 10 works fine but when upgrading to Windows 11, the issue returns.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, was hoping but each restart brought the problem back. Looks like Microsoft figured it out though. Reported it to them as well and a few others reported the same issue. An update came out about 10 minutes ago. Only tested 2 restarts but it's working fine now.

Odd, disabling the internal graphics, waiting 20 seconds and then re-enabling it through device manager, fixed it on my XPS 9510. I would have thought it was an universal fix on Intel integrated graphics-laptops from Dell.

So, in order to bring a response:

I solved this by disabling the Intel UHD graphics through devmgmt, and enabling it again. Nothing else. I've now got a Start Menu!
