Dell xps 13 9365 sound issue

image.pngimage.pngimage.pngimage.pngI am using the laptop, and after a while, the sound just disappear, and in the menu, there is cross on the sound item. I will upload the picture of the problem and the picture of the troubleshooting. Can anyone give me an advice how to fix that? It shows there is no advice detected, but I did not remove anything from the laptop. So anyone have any idea?

Thank you for your message. How long have you been having this issue?

Did this start after any recent Windows, driver or BIOS update?

Have you tried using earphones to check if the issue persists?

What is the version of Realtek driver installed?

Let’s try to refresh the driver- Open device manager – expand sound & video – right click on the Realtek driver & click on uninstall (do not check the box that says delete driver) & restart the computer. This will install the driver when rebooted, check if the issue persists.

For my reference, please click on the message tab next to your avatar– click “New Message” & search for my Dell username (Dell-Sreejith R) & send a private message with the service tag, registered name & email address.

What is a Dell Service Tag and how do I locate it?

If you would, look at the sound device properties in device manager and check the events tab.  The latest entries may need you to scroll down, but do you notice any entries regarding the device being removed and reinstalled?

If you do not see a sound device, go to the view menu and show hidden devices.  You might be able to check the events for that device.

There have been comments in Windows regarding an installation of an Intel Audio driver was causing problems for some systems and I have seen several threads about the Red X.

My system has not encountered the situation but it is an earlier model with a 7th generation processor.  If you have a new one, it may have an 8th generation processor and may behave differently.
