G7 7700 Intel Management Engine Security Vulnerability

Hello,

Intel released a new version of the CSME Detection Tool. When I run this on my Dell G7 7700 with BIOS v1.20 it shows that the system is vulnerable. So we did have a similar case in 2021: Dell G7 7700 Management Engine Security Vulnerability - Dell Community after which a ME firmware update was released by Dell for the system. I assume a new firmware update is needed to resolve the open issues? When can we expect Dell to get this done?

Dell,

Even though my warranty has expired 5 months ago, this is an outstanding issue with the G7 17 7700 system! According to Intel: INTEL-SA-00610 the CSME firmware needs to be updated to v14.1.67 or higher. The latest BIOS 1.20 comes with CSME firmware 14.1.65. A simple "we're working on it" would be enough. Thx.

Well this is exactly what I would call bad customer service.

As I stated in your three other threads, all you and we can do is check the Inspiron G7 17 7700 driver page for updates.

The picture I posted from the Intel CSME detection tool does NOT show my Dell service tag.

@DELL-Chris M I have no 3 other threads about this issue. What are you talking about?

Also 2 BIOS updates later the issue is still not fixed. The G7 7700 still runs an outdated ME firmware.

All you and me can do is wait? Pardon me? This is a security issue! You could inform your development department that this remains an open issue that could easily be fixed by a simple BIOS update.

Your first thread did have the Service Tag listed. That was removed. The Inspiron team was notified. They simply stated to continue to check the drivers page.

Well In my opinion I didn't conduct myself in an inappropiate way.

But good to know that you continue to edit posts to erase even the slightest traces of critiscm. The 1st thread you quote was remedied by an Update.

The second thread is about Thunderbolt and therefore has nothing to do with this.

The third one is about a new and still unresolved Management Engine issue.

Still you make it look like I keep spamming your forums with threads about one and the same issue. Which is not the case.

I gotta admit I was never before treated in such a manner. It may not concern you but this was my first and my last Dell computer. Have a good life.
