Having multiple issues since last DELL BIOS updates

Hi all,

I have a 2021 Dell XPS 9500 15"... I have had similar issues to this previously where performing a DELL BIOS update completely messes up the USB-C charging ports and ANY external USB hub connected to said USB-C port.

I routinely charge my laptop with the closest USB-C por to the left hand side of the laptop as you look at it.. it has been working flawlessy for months.. after a recent DELL BIOS update the left hand port no longer charges the laptop.. only the single USB-C port on the right hand side of the laptop charges the unit.. i.e 2 of the 3 ports no longer appear to act as charging ports.

After rebooting the problem still persisted..  so I completely shutdown the laptop and rebooted and eventually got it to charge back on the left hand port..

Now I am seeing all sorts of issues relating to the USB-C hub that is connected to the right hand side USB-C port.. for example sometimes it sees the two external monitors.. other times it does not.. sometimes the windows 11 screensaver and sleep modes work other times they do not.. sometimes my mouse and keyboard loose connectivity to the laptop via the hub other times they are fine.. same symptoms with my external 2.5" hard drive..

This is soo frustrating as this was working fine prior to the most recent BIOS updates..

I had also been noticing super poor performance on Bluetooth almost to the extent that the onboard card was almost useless unless you were about 12" from the laptop and directly in front of it.. my laptop is slightly to the side of my monitors with my bluetooth headset maybe 3ft away and it constantly cuts in and out.. again this worked flawlessly prior to the latest BIOS updates..

When I first got the laptop I had all sorts of issues with it mysteriously rebooting and after a few weeks of dealing with DELL support they eventually agreed to replace the motherboard.. it turned out the MB has a short on it causing the laptop to reboot periodically.. not sure how this passed quality control but eh.. at least it doesn't reboot randomly anymore.

For a $3500CAD laptop this is pretty poor performance.. and the most recent BIOS updated seem to have set the laptop back again.

Anybody else seeing these issues..? specifically the laptop no longer seems not be able to go into sleep or power save mode with 2 monitors connected nor does the screensaver work at all.

Thoughts/comments?

Thanks.

P.

My right-side USB-C port has stopped working after July 22 BIOS update. Could someone from Dell please assist or respond? Is there any way to restore the controller to an older version or get the current version fixed? Such a disaster!!

This is why you should never buy a Dell. They frequently push updates that break your laptop and then deny it and never fix it. This is my last Dell laptop for sure.
