Thanks sounds like it might work but it also sounds a bit invasive, I don't want to make registry edits. I have turned off Spotlight, in Settings > Personalization > Lock screen switch Spotlight to Picture, this is apparently what triggers the launch, there was even a request to okay the ads they wanted to show, cheeky LOL. It's a shame though, I liked the pictures they showed but nothing is free. I'll look at my pictures.

Check the Start up settings. Open Settings and search for Start Up. You can disable it there.
Make sure you have another browser installed like Chrome or Firefox and choose it as your default.

Yea it does sound a bit invasive.
