Image Does Not Fill Monitor
My XPS 15 9520 is connected to a Dell S3221QS monitor by way of an HDMI cable to a USB-C docking station. The laptop image appears on the monitor but the image does not fill the monitor screen. There are black bars at left and right. I've found posts about changing display settings in Settings but I don't want to change anything about the display in the laptop; it looks just fine. How do I go about getting the image to fill the monitor? I'm using Windows 11. Thanks in advance.

The monitor is a 16:9 aspect ratio; the notebook is 16:10. You will see the black bars due to the difference in aspect ratio -- there's no real way around that which will produce an acceptable image on the monitor while maintaining the image on the system itself.

The difference in aspect ratio definitely escaped me. Thanks for pointing that out.
I experimented by toggling between the original laptop display setting (1900 x 1200, the "recommended" setting) which created black bars on the monitor, and the max setting of 3840 x 2160. I noticed no obvious difference in the laptop display but the monitor display now fills the screen and, more importantly, the sharpness increased dramatically. I'll stick with the higher resolution.
