Intel ME on XPS 9370

Question

Hi,

Back in February, my XPS 9370 invoice included the line:

631-ABPG No Out-of-Band Systems Management, ME Disable

Today I got the firmware updates, and on reboot it said:

Waiting for Intel(R) ME FW Update to complete

Everything completed fine. But shouldn't my IME be disabled?

The Intel Management Engine is a software/hardware solution for remote access of the computer as well as other functions. It is from what I gather, not something that can be turned off as it is built in. That line item probably means you didn't order any remote maintenance functionality that Dell sells with their higher end and business products.
